Thurday of review: Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins

Hi everyone!!! :)

I've read long time ago, but I have been putting off this review forever because I wasn't totally sure how I should write it. Anyway, here we go.

(Summary from Goodreads )Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket—a gifted inventor—steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

MY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT

I love Stephanie Perkins's style. I really enjoyed reading Anna and the French kiss. I think she explains how teenagers feel very well and how they deal with issues.

For starters, the story is really good, it's very well-written and it's very entertaining. At first, it took me a little time to get into the story, but after I couldn't barely put the book down.

The Characters

LOLA: I really like her. If she were real, I would like to meet her. She's very interesting, strange and intelligent.

CRICKET: I like Cricket, but somehow it seems to me like he's always there. You turn around and he is there ALWAYS. I liked it sometimes, but not always. I liked the idea that he was availablefor her, but he didn't live in the same place, so sometimes it was strange for me that he could get to her house so quickly.

MAX: I think Max is not well-treated in the novel. At the beginning of the novel, he is the perfect, mature guy, but at the end of the book he seems like he was a "monster" and he couldn't do anything right at that moment. Maybe, she didn't realise how Max was before, but in some parts I totally understand why Max reacts and I still think he is mature.

CALLIOPE: I like this character very much because it's a clear example about how people change over the year and I also like the idea you have to know her better to know how she is. I feel a bit identified with her.

In summary, I really, really, really recommend this book, specially if you like romance. I enjoyed reading it very much and although it's 338 pages long, you read it very quickly.

So, well, these are my views, but what are your?

  1. I loved Lola too! Though I did like Anna a teeny bit more. Stephanie Perkins is a fantastic writer and I can't wait for her next book!

    1. I love Anna, but I felt more comfortable reading Lola. I really want to read the next one, but it won't come out until summer :_(
